Description
The Y Motel is a landmark location in Chama NM at the junction of Highway 84, 64 and Highway 17. This motel has been owned and operated by the same family since the early 70's. It has 13 rooms with some that include kitchenettes and has been a hiker favorite among the trail walkers of the Continental Divide Trail for many years. Chama is considered a gateway city for the CDTtrail hikers so the motel is extremely busy in May/June and again in Sept/Oct with those who conquer the trail. The rooms are affordable and close to many amenities, including the grocery / hardware store and a number of dining options. The office features a spacious room for travelers to check in and is attached to the 3 bedroom, 2 bath home where the manager currently resides. Chama is a hub for summer and winter travelers alike. Fall and Winter are a buzz with hunters, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, while the Spring and Summer bring cool mountain air seeking travelers, train enthusiasts and those just looking to relax in a slow paced little mountain town. The current map shows the family's entire property and will need to be surveyed prior to closing to just include the motel property which is estimated to be about 1 acre of land. This eclectic little motel has a BIG location.
